Both tablet and laptop are portable computing devices which are popular nowadays. Next, we will attempt a brief comparison between tablets and laptops in several categories:

Portability

Obviously a tablet is a more portable device since it has a smaller physical size than a laptop. Usually tablets have a size up to 10’’ and they can easily fit a bag.

Performance

We can say that laptops have a greater performance than tablets but it can be mentioned that there are some tablets which beat laptops in performance. So it is a matter of models and specifications.

Battery duration

Tablets usually beat laptops in battery duration because they have less hardware and less power consumption.

Hardware architecture

There is different hardware architecture in tablets and laptops. Tablets have an ARM CPU while laptops contain an Intel/AMD processor.

Software

The operating system of tablets is android, iOS or even Windows. It is a special OS designed for tablets. Laptops have an operating system such as the desktops: Linux, Macintosh, Windows etc.

Storage

Tablets have a small storage compared to laptops therefore laptops beat tables in storage.

Cost

The cost of an average tablet is lower than an average laptop but it depends on the model comparison.

At the end, it depends on what needs you have whether you buy a tablet or laptop. Tablet is more proper for simple tasks which do not demand a keyboard/mouse operation such as web browsing etc. Laptops offer a more Desktop-friendly experience.
